Coffee, Cookies and The Co-op

Coffee, Cookies and The Co-op

I typically have a box of cookies available at each monthly Board meeting. Usually, it’s just a box of Oreos. But occasionally we live on the wild side and get something like Chips Ahoy. And there is always a pot of coffee in the office, especially since I tend to keep the office a little cool.

This past fall, the Board of Directors and I were discussing how we can better engage with our members. The idea of bringing coffee and cookies to the members came up. Ultimately, we want to discuss the challenges we face in the energy industry, the opportunities that are available and what the Cooperative is doing to address these topics. One of the objectives was to have more meaningful conversations with our members in a smaller, more intimate setting so people would be more comfortable discussing their concerns or asking questions.

With that goal in mind, we began making plans for these meetings. This March we will be holding 3 district meetings. My hope will be to make these an annual event. Below you will find locations and times of the meetings.

Some of the topics that we will discuss include the amount of load growth on our system and in the upper Midwest as a whole. We will also provide updates on our current system and what specific projects we have planned for the coming years. We will discuss grants and provide an outlook on rates. Finally, we will leave plenty of time to ask questions and provide feedback.

In the coming weeks you will receive an invitation to one of these meetings via postcard in the mail. Be on the lookout for your invitation and I look forward to visiting with you about the exiting things happening at the Co-op as well as the challenges that we are facing.

Coffee and cookies will be available, so please join the Board of Directors and management to learn more about what is happening at the Cooperative. This is a great opportunity to provide us with feedback on what is important to you and help ensure that our priorities align with yours.

Until next month, stay safe and God bless.
