Union County Electric Cooperative Announces Name Change and Rate Adjustment for Monthly Charge
Union County Electric Cooperative is committed to providing reliable, safe, and efficient electric service to our members. To better reflect the purpose of our monthly fixed charge and to support ongoing investments in our electric grid infrastructure, we are making two important updates effective June 1st.
Name Change: Facility Charge to Infrastructure Charge
We are renaming our monthly Facility Charge to the Infrastructure Charge. This change better communicates the purpose of the fee, which is to cover the costs associated with the investment, maintenance, and operation of the electric grid infrastructure. This includes poles, wires, transformers, substations, and other critical components that ensure electricity is delivered to your home or business safely and reliably, 24/7.
The Infrastructure Charge is a fixed monthly fee that supports the cooperative’s ability to maintain and upgrade the grid, regardless of how much electricity you use. By clearly naming this charge, we aim to increase transparency and help our members understand how these funds are used to keep our electric system strong and resilient.
Rate Adjustment for the Infrastructure Charge
To continue delivering high-quality service and to address rising costs for materials, labor, and system upgrades, the Infrastructure Charge will be adjusted as follows:
- Single-Phase Service: The monthly Infrastructure Charge will increase from $48.83 to $65.00.
This adjustment reflects the increasing costs of maintaining and improving our electric grid to meet the needs of our growing community, comply with safety and reliability standards, and prepare for future energy demands. The Infrastructure Charge ensures that all members contribute equitably to the fixed costs of the grid, keeping our cooperative financially stable and our service dependable.
Our Commitment to You
At Union County Electric Cooperative, our members are at the heart of everything we do. We understand that any rate change impacts your budget, and we are committed to managing our costs responsibly while maintaining the reliability you expect. The renaming of the Facility Charge to the Infrastructure Charge and the rate adjustment are steps toward ensuring a sustainable and robust electric system for years to come.
Until next month, stay safe and God bless.
