We’re Here to Serve You

We’re Here to Serve You

“We’re here to serve you.” We’ve all heard this phrase countless times. These words may sound generic, but to us – your local electric cooperative – they mean everything.

Union County Electric Cooperative was created in 1937 to serve our community. Back in the day, neighbors banded together and formed our co-op for the common good. In our case, it was the only way the community could bring electricity to the area where there was none. In doing so, Union County Electric helped the community thrive. That mission-focused heritage is the golden thread that is woven throughout our history.

Today, we are continuing to power the community. While our focus has remained steady on providing reliable energy to our members, today’s energy landscape and consumer expectations are far different than they were decades ago. That’s why we’re adapting; to keep pace with changing technology, evolving needs, and new expectations.

As a not-for-profit cooperative, our five-member Board of Directors serves on behalf of the membership, ensuring that we continue to prioritize the needs of the membership. Recently, John Giorgio was appointed to the Board to represent Civil Bend Township and fulfill the remaining term left when Don Gray resigned. John has been a very engaged member. We have had several conversations over the years regarding energy policy and some of the more complex issues surrounding the energy industry. I appreciate John’s willingness to serve on the Board of Directors and look forward to working with him to ensure that we are making the best decisions in a very complex and changing industry.

To better help the Cooperative serve our members, we have recently moved into our new headquarters facility located at 32708 477th Ave, Elk Point. This 17,150 square foot facility provides a safer environment for our employees, guests, and visitors. Additionally, the 5.3 acres of land and additional storage space will allow us to house the equipment and material needed to meet our members’ expectations for service and reliability.

So, the next time you hear Union County Electric Cooperative use the phrase “we’re here to serve you,” we hope you know that we mean it. Service is deeply ingrained into who we are. We continue to evolve with the times, and in return, we’ve found additional ways to serve you and provide more options for you to power your life.

We’re here whenever you need us. Connect with us online, in person, our social media channels or through the Union County Electric app, which is available on Apple or Android devices. However you choose to connect, please let us know how we can serve you better.

Until next month, stay safe and God bless.
